Itinérances

A gallery for the «Amis du Musée»

For several years, the Amis du Musée, had been thinking about organizing an presenting temporary exhibits of contemporary regional and Swiss artists. These showings would be held in a place called the gallery of the Amis du Musée.

The project was interesting, but complicated and in the end, costly in terms of rental and other fees.
After having studied different possibilities, it was decided to let this gallery be in fact itinerant, meaning a «gallery» which would present different temporary exhibitions in different places depending on the opportunities, proposals and other contacts which could be made.

The gallery Itinérances was born and its first exhibition was held in the annex room of the Chapelle des Annonciades (the Chapel of the Announciation) from the 5th to the 20th of february 2000.
This gallery opened with the works of two regional artistes : paintings and lithographs by Marie-Cécile CHEVALLEY and sculptures by Régina LE MOIGNE.
